I wouldn’t say “hyped”. This is the tweet:Im blocked by CU but apparently people are pissed that he hyped up the announcement. Like did he really??
Nope. Cant see it working with the amount of seniors aging off from teams, etc. I would say they could postpone it by maybe a month or two if they had a serious discussion with gym owners, in my head im thinking even if the seniors aging off would still be around for the summer before school starts up again, they would still have set teams. But kids move, quit etc. over summer breaks so idk.Very curious to see how this plays out. I think it was the right call. The longer they waited the harder it gets.
Does anyone see postponing it a later date to be an actual possibility? I really can’t see the logistics of how they’d make it work
Does that mean that this year's NCA College Nationals is canceled as well?
This. I kept trying to post something similar but struggled to find the right words. I can totally understand the position of the gyms as I generally try to look at all perspectives. From a gym owner view I think it would be difficult to determine what is best. If you aren’t having practices how can you afford to keep the doors open? If you try to continue with practices parents are going to be upset because it puts kids at risk. This is what happens when the governing body doesnt step up and makes the calls it needs to make. People arent going to make the best decision for the masses, theyre going to make the best decision for themselves. IMO, USASF needs to end the season. The longer the possibility of Worlds/Summit lingers, the more pressure gyms are going to feel to continue formal practices. End the comps and the practices end. Allow gyms the ability to hold optional small/controlled sessions (if they feel like thats a safe option in their area) or push out daily at home workout plans tailored to individual athletes/teams to keep the money flowing and kids doing something. But stop incentivising group practices with Worlds/Summit and allow gyms flexibility to serve their customers new needs without the stress of future bids and globes.
Right, right. I imagine we're headed towards a national shutdown, little by little as to not completely tank the economy or disrupt social systems to the point of chaos. We have to give people, businesses, and municipalites at the local and state levels time to figure stuff out and put contingency plans in place for the potential reality of a major shut down.
I think its the right thing to do even if its the hard thing to do. Unfortunately this is new territory for everyone everywhere and we're all doing the best we can to navigate some very difficult situations under short and dire timelines. We're all learning together. Its been an interesting few weeks to say the least. With how advanced and globalized our systems and socities are, its sobering to see that we are still quite fragile.

It upset me that Varsity/USASF wasn’t making any decisions. And yes I understand the logistical nightmare.
Also with power comes responsibility. A decision needed to be made from the top so everyone else could decide.
