I Wasnt Trying to put down on other gyms... im trying to choose a gym based on the location.. how much i can do around the city, what kind of schools they have and express myself.. im also trying to get medals.. and be able to say "hey i was once on a team that won cheerleading worlds againt some of the biggest teams around the country" maybe even the world.. i want a career in cheerleading.. I was told that gyms like top gun and cali.. were the best of the best.. and if i wanted to get anywhere with cheer then i should go there.. cheerleading is the only thing that i have ever been good at and i want to take advantage of that.. chances of being in front of a large crowd being cheer'd on.. surrounded by amazing athletes.. I NEVER said that i was the best or too good for other teams! i just want to be noticed annd staying in missouri = thats never going to happen "NEVER"

Well you can't go wrong with California. However, the cost of living is expensive compared to other states. Specially, if you are planning on living on your own, going to college and paying for cheer. I don't know much about Texas or Florida, but it is not any cheaper there.. If money is not an issue, then you would definitely love it here in Cali.

in Florida if you cheer on Top Gun, you can live with a host family house that voluntered to help out athletes on top gun... you can find a room mate that is already on the team, new to it as well..
California.. idk if they do host families. or not.
i dont plan on going to college the same time that i am cheering because i will have too much on my hands... i only want to cheer about one or two years.. im 16 right now.. 17 in july.. so i have 2 more years to be able to cheer on a Senior Large Coed Team.. after that is done then i will find a good gym such as Cheer Athletics or a Smaller Gym with international Coed so that i can go to College :P

You're still listing a LOT of conflicting reasons, many of them BAD ones. 'Trying to get medals'- NEVER a good reason to do anything. The programs you mentioned are good for a LOT of reasons- most importantly because they build athletes from the inside-out. The boys of Cali, TG, CA, ACE etc aren't just GOOD- I'm sure their coaches will be the first to tell you they're well-rounded, hard workers who have a variety of interests. 'Being noticed'- noticed for what? You say you want to make a 'career' in cheerleading. As what? An athlete- sorry, the chances of that happening are worse than me walking the red carpet in a year. Nobody gets paid to cheer. Maybe some fancy sponsorships of 'goods' (shoes, unis, etc), but even those will die a year or so out of the sport. As a coach- you have to be good with kids, and/or a good tumbling instructor. Even then, you can't guarantee your pay amount. I'm sure 'Cheering for X team' will look good for starters, but coaching isn't for everybody, and what if it doesn't work out? I'm not trying to kill your dreams, I'm just trying to get you to understand the reality you either don't see or are ignoring. I'm concerned you're doing this for reasons that will just end up hurting you. You're not supposed to put all your eggs in one basket...

college isnt for 16-17 year olds, are you not enrolled in high school? what do your PARENTS have to say about this?

Wait...So you want to move away while still in high school to cheer and win worlds? Sure you can get a host family, but that doesn't make up for the money it takes to live on in Miami or Cali. They are not cheap places to live.

I know that you want to have a career in cheerleading and I am sure many do, but to have that career in it you need an education which should come first. I don't think there is a coach at any gym you mentioned that would tell you to put cheer above education.

I was confused by that statement as well. You want to cut out school because school + cheerleading = too much? I'm thinking you have that a little backwards. School should always come before cheerleading. As much as we all love it, school gets you a career, cheerleading does not.

am i the only one that gets annoyed when people think cheer is the most important thing in their life? like i love it, but i cant put it before school..
Look, I chose acting as a degree. It's one of the most risky career choices EVER, so I know firsthand about trying to make ridiculous things a reality. BUT- I didn't just up and say 'ACTING TIME' without having backups. I teach, I coach, I GOT A DEGREE...in acting, sure, but it's a lib arts degree which gives me more options. There are ways to make cheer a career- but dropping out of school isn't one of them. Especially high school..getting your GED on the side while trying to find a job that pays the bills- NOT easy. I can get paid to act- but you'll NEVER be paid to cheer. Pro football cheerleaders even get paid next to nothing and MUST hold a job.

I think everyone is different...I don't think any of us should judge someone else's situation...we are all made up of different things which lead to different paths....IMO...:) anyway...back to Large Coed..:)

Wow - I think I'm going to take a shot at this from a different angle. I think that your absolutely right in your way of picking a gym to go to. Would I have listed my reasons or thoughts for NOT wanting to choose a certain program...definitely not. However WE ALL want to WIN - and be remembered...PERIOD. Many athletes choose to travel across state lines weekly to compete on a team that they feel is going to WIN! I knew people that flew across the country to be on a team to win an NCA title. If you don't want to win...what's the purpose of competition. Hopefully your skills will get you onto a team that can make you happy, and in the long run WIN!

From what I understand you're in high school now and will continue high school until you graduate (no matter where you cheer) - and don't want to be in college competing for a "large coed" team. Well I'm not sure where you live in Missouri - but I'm sure there are a few other amazing coed teams (not always large) that are closer than Florida & California...For instance Twist and Shout...Spirit of Texas...Cheer Athletics. However - you have to make plans for the future and education is vital these days.

Now...as far as making cheerleading a career - that's a whole different story. You don't have to have a college education to own a successful business and make tons of money - just look at some of the large gyms, event producers, and cheer vendors today that were started off of a hope and a whim. Sometimes a good idea and the right amount of passion will take you further than your wildest dreams.

I work in a stressful environment daily that has taught me that sometimes it's important to put all of your eggs in 1 basket but realize when you need to switch it up. Keep your passion for wanting to win - combine that with a little tact - and go have fun. In YOUR life if you don't put YOU first NO ONE else will!
