OT The Dance Moms Thread!

so after going through a few youtube videos of kalani when she was at her old studio... im confused why she would ever leave, her dancing was sooooo much better at club dance. ultimately i think aldc needs to hire a new choreographer or something. i get that they probably ended up there to be on tv, and what not. but i feel like her dancing has taken a serious downgrade being there.

It's for the money and opportunities. Kira is paid for appearing and Kalani ultimately gets a lot of exposure. Kalani isn't necessarily the best in her age group across the country, but she's up there and with her face and personality, with the right team could land jobs with some more training.

Asia's mom did something similar for her though by all accounts her rise to stardom has sunk into an abyss. And you know the only reason why crazy Jojo mom told that child to apologize was to keep her on the show for opportunities. Abby Lee is very washed up, imo. She was in bankruptcy, Melissa's boyfriend now husband loaned a substantial amount of money to keep the studio open, and the only reason it's likely running today is because of the show. If I had to guess, I'd say their tiny and mini age groups are so amazing because if they're good, maybe they'll also get roped in--like we've seen with Sarah Hunt. The senior kids know they'll be ignored. So, why stay? Abby doesn't teach them anymore and she employs a decent staff, but after Peyton and Brooke went away we've yet to see Abby bring in anyone significantly older...except maybe Kalani, but she wants the junior category not the teen one because she knows she can be sloppy same ole' same ole' and still win there; she can't do that in teen. When this show fades, likely her studio will again down the road.

Chloe released her video the week and while I kinda hate musical theater, her kicks reminded me of Season 1 Chloe that wanted to be a Rockette /w Paige. I have a feeling 10 years from now in the "Where are they know category..." we'll see drunken, disheveled, rambling Abby Lee Miller screaming for people to pay attention to her and that she made these kids and whatever success they have she'll be responsible for whether it's Chloe or Paige or Nia or Kendall or Maddie...etc. etc. The road she's on is a very bad one and I kinda wish this show would end just to stop the crazy town train she's on so reality can kick her in the a**.

I was actually wondering this last night - why Kalani left- and chalked it up to the fame thing. And I don't even think she wants to be there as badly as her mom does. Like she very rarely has outbursts or is the center of attention on the show. You can tell she just wants to dance.

I think it's been said that Gia choreographs a lot of the dances but I'd like to see the girls work with different choreographers more often. Is like to see their dancing be pushed to other levels rather than see them do the same thing over and over in different ways. I think Nia would be good at the style of dance Kalani does at her home studio. I can't watch Nia do another death drop. She needs to do something else.

That's why I didn't understand the upset this week. I'd be thankful if Abby brought in a guest choreographer just to switch it up!

Their Orange is the New Black dance was choreographed by a guest choreographer

Although the costuming was dreadful, it was one of the better dances of the entire show.

I think feeling slighted about ALM not choreographing a dance is just more fake mumbo jumbo for the show

Gah! Her feet! How many ballerinas would kill for arches like that! Dance is such a difficult career. It's like gymnastics, it's over in 5 minutes. I understand why these moms want to take advantage of "more".

I get the appeal of Ricky Rap or whatever his name is. It's that safe, sexless, preteen, bubblegum "rap" that naive parents think their kids listen to exclusively. When his voice changes, this will all end. I hope his "Dadenger" is saving his youtube earnings.

Nice to see her so relaxed, and learning new things. It shows in her artwork.

Love to see that she's still dancing and in an environment where she is thriving!

Something about the owners irked me. They seem like great teachers, but I got the vibe that they're trying to latch onto Chloe and get what they can out of her fame.

Its actually not bad! I was expecting it to be terrible. She's no Beyonce, but can carry a tune far better than MackZ. Ava has the body type to be an amazing ballerina if she choses to go that route one day.
