It's true though- MANY of the athletes competing (particularly the older ones-many of whom are coming off injuries) weren't completely competing up to their fullest depending on how things were going and what's what. Heck, even the men had some people do the same- No point in risking an injury if it was a given they'd be at least invited to the ranch, never mind a good shot at them making Worlds. Why oh why?!

I really wanted Horton to get his 3rd, but Men's team isn't looking to shaby!

I hate that one article said "Nastia won Olympic AA Gold with a 1 1/2", Nastia won that because of her beam and bars scores, also, Bross can't pull off the GORGEOUS 1 1/2 Nastia did in AA.. Bross needs that double to be competitive. She's capable of it, she did it night 1 (not very good technique, and a bit of a step), so why say she shouldn't have done it Saturday?
I would DIE to see Anna Li picked, I doubt she will be, but her bars routine is GORGEOUS when she doesn't stumble on the low bar (which she seems to do quite a bit). I very highly doubt Shawn will be put in for Worlds, like it was said earlier, keep her low-key until she's back to 100%, and THEN kick everyone in the behind!
I don't know if I'd like to see Memmel at Worlds, I hope she would take it easy for a bit, take it slowly, and come back and have that Olympic dream she's wanted twice now so badly and missed out on due to injury.
I almost thought Nastia hinted at a comeback in that interview.. the look on her face was undeniable, she misses it, HOPEFULLY she comes back for bars and beam, she could really put up 2 VERY high scores in London.
Alicia's new floor routine (without that stupid punch front to 2 1/2, I liked the 2 1/2 punch front layout better, if it could hit) is my favourite floor routine of all time. When the music goes silent on her arabian double front, I die.

Alicia's floor music is fantastic. I want to go to the olympics simply for her floor routine. Once she gets it consistent with no steps or out of bounds, she will be unstoppable.

Shawn is great, but not ready for worlds. And I'm sure they would be putting Memmel in for worlds. Unless the shoulder injury is something other than a minor injury. Maybe they will take Aly Raisman to worlds instead of memmel for now.

A Rais - beam, vault, fx
A Sac - beam, vault, fx
J Wieb - AA
M Maroney - AA

2 of the 4
G Doug - just for bars
M Caquatto - just for bars
B Caquatto - just for bars
Anna Li - just for bars

All 4 of the girls mentioned above can score over a 15 on Vault and close to if not a 15 on floor. JWieb, ASac, and ARais can all score over 15 on beam. They'd need to bring 2 people to do bars as Wieber is the only one out of the 4 i mentioned that can do bars with a difficulty over 6.0

Since only 3 scores count for team finals, they only need help on bars.

I would love Nastia to come back just for beam and bars, but I doubt she would be a specialist and not do all around. She has a decent amount of weight to lose and to get into shape, but im sure if she starts training now, she'd be ready for the Covergirl classic next may.

I was suprised about Broo's performance day 1! But she pullded it together day 2!
And Veronica aka Nica Hults was amazing in the Junior womens division :D

@imrichhowboutu or anyone else who is big on gymnastics...

Does this Worlds team being chosen now have much to do with who will be on the Olympic team next August?

It doesn't necessarily mean if you don't go to worlds that you won't go to the olympics. They want to see how you will be in an international competition.

Shawn and Nastia don't need to worry about competing at worlds to make the team. Even Memmel would be find without going. They are looking at the rookie athletes who will be in their first international competition to see how they fare with the pressure. Thats not to say if there was an amazing Junior like Jordyn Wieber was or like Katelyn Ohashi now that they wouldn't take them just because they didn't go somewhere the year before.

If you have the skills you have the skills. Its all about putting in the numbers at the gym and having consistency on the floor.
