I feel so bad for Rebecca! She's been working so hard for years and now an injury! Wishing for a fast recover....

Does anyone else hate the fact that Nastia Luikin is on the national commitee?! 9/10 gymnast in the US, just hates Nastia but than yet 9/10 love Shawn....

I hate that one article said "Nastia won Olympic AA Gold with a 1 1/2", Nastia won that because of her beam and bars scores, also, Bross can't pull off the GORGEOUS 1 1/2 Nastia did in AA.. Bross needs that double to be competitive. She's capable of it, she did it night 1 (not very good technique, and a bit of a step), so why say she shouldn't have done it Saturday?
I would DIE to see Anna Li picked, I doubt she will be, but her bars routine is GORGEOUS when she doesn't stumble on the low bar (which she seems to do quite a bit). I very highly doubt Shawn will be put in for Worlds, like it was said earlier, keep her low-key until she's back to 100%, and THEN kick everyone in the behind!
I don't know if I'd like to see Memmel at Worlds, I hope she would take it easy for a bit, take it slowly, and come back and have that Olympic dream she's wanted twice now so badly and missed out on due to injury.
I almost thought Nastia hinted at a comeback in that interview.. the look on her face was undeniable, she misses it, HOPEFULLY she comes back for bars and beam, she could really put up 2 VERY high scores in London.
Alicia's new floor routine (without that stupid punch front to 2 1/2, I liked the 2 1/2 punch front layout better, if it could hit) is my favourite floor routine of all time. When the music goes silent on her arabian double front, I die.
They said that she wasn't consistent with the double at all the past week so they thought they'd play it safe for this competition. This would be an interesting topic to talk about in terms of cheer as well.. do you pull an inconsistent skill or hope it hits just for the extra points, risking a deduction?

Thats alittle rude and I dont think 9/10 gymnast hate her.

My dream will be for Nastia to come back out of nowhere next year and make the team not necessarily in the all around oh and to get into nursing school:cloud9:

I think you confused Nastia and Shawn! Everyone LOVES Nastia's classic lines and beautiful form. Shawn on the other hand....well, she reminds us of Mary Lou or Kim Zemeskal (who was called a butterball by Bela).

Really?! Everyone i talk to likes Shawn MUCH better than Nastia. Well I guess that proves its pretty equal haha

The approval of the general public, even younger gymnasts, has absolutely nothing to do with who should and shouldn't be on the selection committee. Nastia sure knows the sport, she's an Olympic legend, not just in the sport of gymnastics, if I'm correct, she was just behind Michael Phelps for most individual medals at the 2008 Olympics, and has one of the highest Olympic/Worlds medal counts of any female gymnast?
I don't think Nastia should go for all around, at least not right away. She could probably quite easily get back on that beam and throw nearly the same routine by early next year, and possibly a bar routine in the high 6 low 7 difficulty. She needs to wait 'till her body is back in really good shape before she even attempts to throw a full floor routine in competition, because it most likely will not turn out well. As for vault, she really isn't needed on vault, as mentioned above, Shawn, Alicia, Weiber, and (though I doubt she'll be in the Olympics) that Mal(r?)oney girl, who I had never heard of before Saturday, can all put up HUGE vault scores. Though, if Olympic AA is looked at, Nastia put up a score with a Yurchenko 1 1/2 that most gymnasts are lucky to put up with a DTY.

By the way, I LOVE seeing the amount of cheerleaders watching/supporting gymnastics. I was different than some, gymnastics was in my life LONG before cheer was, but I love seeing cheerleaders appreciate gymnasts. It would be nice to see it the other way around, but I think that will take a while. There are still some cheerleaders out there who think level 5 is harder than elite gymnastics, and still some gymnasts that think cheerleading is pom poms, short skirts, and sidelines at football games, but I do love seeing a decently educated talk about gymnastics on a cheerleading website.

I love BOTH Nastia and Shawn..Shawn has the pint-sized fierceness and attack with wholesome adorableness and Nastia has the elegance and grace with a more calm force. Different types of strength..

Chellsie and ASac had two of my favorite floor routines..*dies*

Maloney has some great skills and I think she may be on the track to the Olympics. If she can get her execution up on the other events (besides vault) I think she has a good shot.

I agree... Maroney's on the right track and I think by this time next year she'll be ready.. I'm really excited for her

For next year though especially with only 5 to a team... I think ASac will make it over Aly (unless something happens)

Don't forget about Bridget Sloan too.. She's recovering from an injury

In reality though... It's crunch time for the Olympics, they can't afford any more injuries from now until London

From the girls that competed at Visa Championships (not including Rebecca Bross), these would be the ones I'd think were in consideration:
Shawn Johnson
Alicia Sacramone
McKayla Maroney
Jordyn Weiber
Alexandra Raisman
Chellsie Memmel
Anna Li
Those that didn't (including Rebecca Bross, just because these are "maybe" athletes and although her injury is less severe than originally thought, a dislocation isn't something you take lightly, I believe that's what is STILL giving Chellsie problems):
Nastia Liukin
Rebecca Bross
Bridget Sloan

My ideal Olympic team (odd that I'm saying this as a Canadian, but there's really only 2 good female gymnasts with Peng Peng at UCLA):
Shawn Johnson
Alicia Sacramone
Jordyn Weiber
Nastia Liukin
Rebecca Bross.
There's 3 all-around in there, with Nastia, Jordyn, and Rebecca all capable of good scores on bars (I'm saying this assuming Nastia won't come back as an all-around if she does come back). Shawn, Alicia and Jordyn can put up huge vault scores, Shawn, Alicia, Jordyn and Rebecca can put up really good floor and beam scores, and Nastia can obviously put up a good beam score. It would be interesting how to decide who would go on which event, but I'd love to see that team go to London. (if Rebecca can't go, I'd say Anna Li or Chellsie Memmel)

Nastia can put up a good floor score if she got back into shape.

One of my favorite things to see at Worlds/Olympics is how many US athletes score high enough to make individual event finals and all around finals but can't go because of the limit on athletes from certain countries.
