Real question: how do kids at large, well known programs and esp on well known level 5 teams that compete across the country every weekend even stay in school? My school only allows 12 excused absences per semester. I'm already at 6...I lose all my credits once I surpass 12...
You don't. I had to sit in detention at the end of the school year to "make up" credits

At CP's current gym some of the teams do have practice Friday night before the comp, BUT the gym has rented a hotel room and you drop them off for 1-2 hours and then pick them up. So for some gyms it's more than just 10 minutes.

Yeah but I was talking about the "practice you can sign up for" at the GWCC that is an actual walk through of the warm up area; with the same amount of time at on each floor/mat that you will get the next two days prior to competitions.

Ah okay. I didn't realize that was an option at Cheersport.

Okay, I am going to ask that no one spit or kick me on this thought, Please!!! But playing Devil's Advocate on this matter, many athletes who sign up for elite level teams, know what is involve by way of sacrifice, commitment, time and money... My daughter is playing on a Pre-Elite level now as a Y5 athlete, but I know at the next level more will be required of her... Tbh, I cannot imagine my daughter being on an Elite level in a sport and only compete with and against athletes in her area...I will actually question the authenticity of her sport... To be the best and compete against the best, you must leave your backyard!
Just like the SuperBowl, Olympics, World Series, etc... The best athletes in every sport gather to compete and for cheerleaders, it is NCA, Worlds, Cheersport, potentially, Summit, Majors and maybe, Champion's League... (excuse me if I forgotten any...)

PS: The solution might be to move the venues and allow a committee of gym owners to gather and have a hand in these competitions, so no one leave feeling slighted. ..

Yes, but there is no need to go to ALL of them.

I can see the DA side of this, but does that also mean you expect her to go to every single one?

I think it's been established that this takes our NCA and the All-Stars Games. Cheersport, World's, Champions League, and Major's are all still 'within driving distance' to them.

Tweeting that a team should have to hit to win was a bit uncalled for, and a bit of a poorly-disguised jab... Although I agree with every single word...

But why should CSP have to hide her displeasure with NCA, and with the ever-mounting price of cheerleading in general? She's a client coming to these events, just as her families are clients placing their business with her. So if she's dissatisfied with what she's getting, why return? SE has hit pretty well at Dallas over the past few years, yet haven't won in a long time. But they've won Worlds 3 times in the past five years. Clearly what she's giving isn't working at NCA.

So why drag hundreds of athletes and their families back down to Dallas?

Plus the toilets are gross there anyway.

Well if shes as smart as some on here say, then I'm sure she knows she could have worded that differently IF her intention was just to complain about the ep NCA.

And your and the CEA moderator on here sum up CEA pretty well, its all about senior elite! pretty sure there are other teams from cea that have gone and won almost yearly! SE doesnt win so now nobody goes?? and BTW as you point out they have won worlds ? yes with a drop once and a traveling "non bobble" stunt once Also for the lg sr division, worlds is a one day comp. if you would have had prelim scoring count... worlds may look quite different.

No, I am not suggesting that an Elite athlete must go to all of them, but there are some that are considered more desirable than others, and as a Non- World athlete, NCA is at the top of the food chain... Furthermore, I still do not see how to get around from overnight stays in hotels, particularly, if the 2 day competition is 10 or more driving hours away... Will these elite athletes be camping out in their cars or will they be driving home and driving back 10 hours the following morning?

Worlds is a different score sheet therefore comparing that they won 3x vs none at NCA is not a fair assesment to think any team should be able to come out on top at any given competition. Also routines evolve from competition to competition.

In my experience, just because u HIT does not mean an automatic win. Anyone can HIT with poor execution or timing issues. SE added double ups - however they were poorly timed and poorly executed compared to competitiors. Hands down Panthers execution and timing was the best and they had just as difficult of a routine as all the large sr. So with all skills equal - execution and timing wins out.

Fierceboard in a nutshell:
>side-eyes when athletes make GoFundMe accounts because cheer is so expensive
>side-eyes when a gym owner takes proactive steps to make cheer be less expensive because naturally she must just be salty her teams didn't win.

Look, ever since 2011ish we've seen a steady stream of athletes drop from cheer (temporarily or for good) because of cost. All of these new competitions keep cropping up--Champions League, All-Star Games, etc. I think one parent of a (former?) Shooting Star posted on here a few years ago of everything they spent on cheer for one season (travel, tuition, etc)--and it was roughly equal to my salary. This was *before* Stay-to-Play, Champions League, The Majors, etc. etc. I don't want to see cheer become a sport for the super rich. There's no reason to travel all the way to Dallas if you've already got a bid to Worlds.

She never said they weren't traveling. Just staying within driving distance. And there is plenty of competition within driving distance. F5, Orange, WCSS....they're all within driving distance of each other so they're not sacrificing competition either.

I think the goal is to get away from plane trips not necessarily hotels.
