I guess I'm the only one who thinks cheerleading should not be in the olympics. It's like trying to have dance in the olympics..or wrestling. It just doesn't click for me. I think having a cheerleading worlds is enough.

Its not cheer, its stunting. I'm not sure what we think of as cheer could easily be made into a sport. But stunting itself could.

If it was just plain out stunting then acrobatic gymnasts would blow us out of the water. If it was just cheer like stunting, it's basically just doing the stunting portion of a routine w/ 5 people. It's just weird to me. I've never really liked the idea of STUNT either. Cheerleading should be a sport and it sucks these kind of things have to be changed in order to consider cheer a sport..I just can't picture stunt in the olympics. I honestly don't think stunting is olympic medal worthy (along w/ a few other sports in the olympics).

I disagree they would blow us out of the water. Not a single one of them hit a single thing to the top. They all did holds or pretty cool transitions... to level 1 stunts. What makes cheer stunting different is we actually hit to the top. And the reason acro hasnt taken off it isnt that exciting. It emphasizes the wrong things. If you can find a group that could do a fullup cupie I would be suprised. You wont cause they cant do it.

I feel like as far as impressive videos go this is a lot more entertaining to watch.

So watch my old video then!

WOW so amazing! Feel free to come to Aus any time. I'm entering my first partner stunt comp in less than 10 days and we could totally use some help from experts like yourself :)

I absolutely love this idea! If larger EP's wont pick it up at first maybe we can start with some locals and smaller EP's to show the larger brands that it is a good idea and that there is an audience for it. I would love to be apart of this new sport in the making! Please let me know how I can help!!

I disagree. I think acro is more entertaining to watch. They don't hit at the top because they aren't required to. By looking at what they can do, I'm sure they could easily learn. If this stunting idea was just for cheerleading stunts, it's still cheerleading. Why even go through changing the name to stunting? It's just taking a section & stunt group out of a cheerleading routine. IMO if you are going to take cheer out of the name and call it stunting, there should be more to it than just cheerleading stunts. Stunting in general would bring a bigger crowd. I just don't see cheerleading stunts in the Olympics.

Having done the cheer versions of their stunts and some acro stuff ( and worked with some acro people) I will tell you they aren't built to do what we do. Most of their stuff is low impact or caught in positions that are no where near the top. Ask one of them to do a toss awesome. It's very hard for them because there is free release flight and holding extended at the top. As well you won't see full arounds while extended or rewinds to the top, or a number of things. You will see toe pitch half flip dive bomb to hand in hand at half, but that's because that skill doesn't take a lot of strength. They just don't do strength skills. Stunting is the most popular part of cheering. Stunting could become a sport by building off the cheer infrastructure that already exists. I don't think entire gyms could exists that only teach stunting, however, stunting could become very popular and viable NCAA and Olympic option as athletes near high school and find a love for it in cheer. Cheer gyms could dedicate a small portion of the gym to teach at certain times without converting much.

As an experiment to training I'm taking one group and one coed couple with solid athleticism and built to potentially be good, but do not have the refined skills yet and seeing what type of consistent training regime would make a difference and how fast.
